We are looking for highly motivated individuals interested in learning the skilled trade of glass artistry.
No previous
experience in the glass artistry field is necessary;
however, the ideal candidate typically will typically have a strong
background performing tasks on the job or as a hobby which
require them to work with their hands for long periods of time (e.g.,
painting, drawing, sculpting, pottery, welding, fabrication, etc.)
Our staff will personally train all new hires in the art of lampworking. Once a glass artisan is completely trained, they are expected to work 40 hours a week making beads; however, expectations for artists are not primarily set upon hours, but instead the number of beads (charms) they produce.
We require our artists to be consistently working towards the goal of producing 500+ beads a week.
Learning how to make our wonderful products requires a lot of patience and time on your behalf. The reward of an artist's hard work and perseverance through the training period begins as soon as they meet our standard & quality requirements and have begun producing quality glass beads, which in turn allows them to earn a substantial income on a bi-weekly basis working from a studio that we set up in their home.
The initial training period for new artists typically lasts from 2 to 4 weeks. To be considered you need to be able to devote at least 30-40 hours a week during the initial training period when you begin.
Training sessions take place in our Marietta studio, near the
intersection of Shallowford Rd
and Canton Highway. Dedicating as many hours as possible in those first few weeks training is highly recommended and extremely beneficial for any new artist, because it allows them to aquire the skills necessary for the position in a short amount of time. Typically your
income during training is
low, but you will be compensated for any buyable beads produced.
Once training is complete you are given the opportunity to work from home. Making the transition from working in our studio to your home is much easier than the initial training period; however, artists will be expected to be available to come back in for additional training and/or coaching every couple of weeks.
The most important commitment new artists must make to Glassbaker is the time and effort they put into the training process, as well as their future development. Other factors like practice, patience, guidance, and perseverance are without a doubt just as crucial to proper training and development. Once you learn the skill, and begin to work from the comfort of your own home, you will soon realize just how rewarding being an artist with Glassbaker can be.
